Corporal Arthur Edwin Craske returned to Australia on this voyage 15 January 1919.

My paternal grandfather Gunner Charles Joseph Hughes 3782 also returned to Australia from WW1on the City of York, disembarking at Melbourne on 27 January 1919. He had been gassed in France in 1918, hospitalised in Horton War Hospital in May 1918 until the end of the war then repatriated to Australia on the City of York. Nothing is known of him yet after disembarkation, i am researching my family history and hope to find out more about his life after returning to Australia.

The city of York was involved in an collision with the schooner Général Manoury on Oct 20, 1919 to the northward of the South Goodwin Light-vessel in the foggy morning. My grand father was on the Généreal Manoury. I have the LLOYD'S report and pictures of the Général Manoury to share. The city of York was on a voyage from Bombay to Hull laden with general cargo. I am looking for pictures of the city of York.
