The Shipping Controller (Shaw, Saville & Albion Co. Ltd. - Mngrs)., reg. London. Later: Given to Australian Government as a reparation. 1920: Burns, Philp & Co.Ltd., reg. London. Later: Troop ship during WWII. Then returned to Singapore service. 1949: Baru Co., reg. Panama. Converted to a refugee ship in Genoa. 1950: Under charter to International Refugee Organization left Bremerhaven with 950 passengers. Later: Laid up in Casablanca. 1954: Sold to Belgian ship breakers

I travelled on the Marella from Melboune to Fremantle in 1942 I would like to know what nationalitly the stewards were Very happy memories for an 8 year old girl the stewards were wonderful

Travelled on the marella with my mother during war their was a pom pom mounted on front and they use to throw 44 drums over and practice every day we went to Fremantle. Met a sailor Don purdon in later years who was on the ship.came back to Sydney on troop train
