Melbourne. 1939 Nov.2: Taken over by the RAN. 1940 Jan.17: Commissioned as an Armed Merchant Cruiser. 1943 early: Converted into an Infantry Landing ship. 1946 Sept.: Paid off but used to convey troops to Japan. 1949 Apr.: Requisitioned for the 'Suez Crisis'. 1959 May: Sold, renamed and converted into a livestock carrier, Asian & Pacific Shipping Co, reg. Suva. 1961: Sold. 1961 Dec.19: Left Sydney under tow for Japanese shipbreakers.
